Frozen 2: A Prolific Return to Arendelle

Six years after the enormous success of Snow Queen (which at the time of its release became the biggest hit of all time for an animated film), the sequel to the adventures of Elsa and Anna finally arrives in theaters in November 2019.

The film begins with Elsa hearing a mysterious voice calling her north. Accompanied by her sister Anna, Kristoff, Olaf the snowman and Sven the reindeer, Elsa sets off on a journey beyond the borders of their kingdom of Arendelle. The goal is to discover the source of Elsa’s powers and save their kingdom, threatened by ancient magical powers. The group travels through enchanted forests and stormy seas, discovering along the way the truth about their family’s past and Elsa’s true destiny.

Despite the challenges inherent in creating a sequel to such a beloved and acclaimed film, Frozen 2 managed to capture the hearts of its audience once again, delving into the story and characters that had captivated viewers of all ages around the world. The film not only enriched the universe, but also solidified its status important franchise for Disney.

A huge success at the box office

Frozen 2also directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, it grossed 1.45 billion dollars at the cinema global box office, thus exceeding the score of the first (1.39 billion). It’s simply the the greatest success of all time for an animated filmif we consider that the “live” version of The Lion King is not an animated film.

The latter, in fact, grossed 1.66 billion dollars at the global box office, placing first Frozen 2. But it is considered a hybrid product, and not a purely animated film. The techniques used for The Lion King in fact, it mixes those of animation and live action (there is also a shot that does not use CGI), not allowing the film to be placed in a particular box.
