Thirty-four years after meeting on the set of the cult comedy PROFESSIONALSFabrice Luchini and Patrick Bruel met again in 2019 for the film The best is yet to come written and directed by the duo Matthieu Delaporte / Alexandre de La Patellière.

In recent years this pair of screenwriters/directors has been in the limelight thanks to two Dante projects: first of all the diptych dedicated to the Three Musketeers, released in April and December 2023which they wrote. The best is yet to come tells the story of two childhood friends, Arthur (Fabrice Luchini) and César (Patrick Bruel), who meet again after years apart. Following a medical misunderstanding, the two friends each believe that the other is terminally ill. This misunderstanding pushes them to live fully enjoy the moments they left togetherto make up for lost time and make long-forgotten dreams come true.

The plot unfolds between moments of humor and deep reflections on life, death and the importance of human connections. The two protagonists embark on a journey through their memories and rediscover the value of their friendship, confronting their own fears and regrets. The film also raises questions about mistakes and regrets and how it is never too late to change and face our deepest truths.

Without meeting with a resounding success at the box office, The best is yet to come It still managed to attract nearly a million viewers to theaters. It was also released in several countries around the world.
