Ad Vitam: the new French success on Netflix
Since its release on Netflix on January 10, 2025, Ad Vitamthe action thriller starring Guillaume Canet, arouses the enthusiasm of spectators. In fact, it is currently the #1 film in the world and could very well add to that Under the Seineor even Lost ball in the list of French titles that have been successful internationally.
Directed by Rodolphe Lauga, Ad Vitam stars Guillaume Canet as Franck Lazarev, a former GIGN member dealing with the kidnapping of his pregnant wife, Léo (Stéphane Caillard). The film ends on a positive note, with Franck’s exit and his reunion with Léo and their daughter.

Asked by Tele-leisure, Rodolphe Laugathe director ofAd Vitamhe was tight-lipped about the possibility of extending the film’s plot. According to him, the story of Franck Lazareff it was conceived as a self-contained and complete story.
“The film is still closed, so we are free to do whatever we want. I always find it nice to be able to say that it’s a possibility to make a sequel, but it’s not an obligation.”
The director also confided that he had not thought of concrete options for a second part:
“No, I didn’t imagine anything. You know, things happened very quickly. We finished filming on June 21, 2024. So it’s only been seven months since we finished filming and it’s already out on Netflix. It’s extremely fast, I have l ‘I feel like it was just a rush. It’s a little early to plan anything else.”
These observations indicate that, from an implementation perspective, no concrete project immediately is not expected in the short term.
For his part, Guillaume Canetmain actor, but also co-writer of the film, shows a much more enthusiastic point of view. When making a declaration (via AlloCiné)revealed that he had considered the idea of a sequel from the beginning:
