In the program, shown on November 3, 2008, Lynch spoke about meditation and the future of cinema with the arrival of the internet

The director and screenwriter David Lynchresponsible for successes such as Blue Velvet (1986), City of Dreams (2002) and the series Twin Peaks (1990), died at the age of 78 this week and, to honor him, TV Cultura will re-air, this Saturday (18), the filmmaker’s interview for the program Roda Vida, which took place in 2008. But it’s been a while since the re-airing start?

How was the interview?

The conversation, led by the journalist Lillian Witte Fibediscussed the career of Lynch and the director’s reflections on art, meditation, creativity and, of course, cinema. At the time, the director had come to Brazil to promote his book In Deep Waters – Creativity and Meditation, and talk about his experience with transcendental meditation on the TV Cultura program.

During the conversation, Lynch also spoke about the future of cinema, the drop in attendance and DVD sales, and how the arrival of the internet would forever change the way we consume films. “The film, although on celluloid, is big, heavy and slow, which reminds me of dinosaurs slowly disappearing”highlighted the director at the time, anticipating that the internet was getting faster and faster and that everything would migrate to the web.

What time will David Lynch’s interview be re-aired on Roda Viva?

Originally shown in November 2008, with the participation of journalists Ricardo Calil, José Geraldo Couto, Leon Cakoff and Ubiratan Brazil on the interviewers bench, the interview with David Lynch airs this Saturday, January 18th, from 11:45 pm (Brasília time), on TV Cultura.
