Nichelle Nichols, the original Star Trek Uhura has died at the age of 89

Nichelle Nicholsthe interpreter of Uhura in Star Trek he died at the age of 89.

Nichols’ death was confirmed by Gilbert Bell, a business partner and manager for 15 years.

Nichols shared the first interracial kiss in Star Trek TV history. The kiss was shared with William Shatner, co-star of the series and historical interpreter of Captain Kirk. Star Trek was created by Gene Roddenberry and aired on NBC and for a 60s series achieved great success involving people of different ethnicities.

Born actress Grace Nichols in Robbins, she had a career in show business from a young age, debuting at 16 as a singer with Duke Ellington in a ballet she created and then continuing with her band before joining on TV.
