Woman Exhausted by Partner's Sex Drive Given Expert Advice

Woman Exhausted by Partner's Sex Drive Given Expert Advice

A woman who described her live-in partner as a sex maniac after he began interrupting her remote work up to three times a day has been advised by relationship expert Laura Collins to set firm boundaries.

The woman shared her predicament in a letter published by media outlet Metro, explaining that the couple moved in together five months ago after both began working from home.

According to the letter writer, her partner enters her room two or three times every day to make love, assuming she shares his level of arousal even when she is busy with important work. She added that his constant advances while they prepare for parties or social events routinely make them late, as she is forced to fix her hair and makeup all over again.

The couple met 18 months ago, when the woman initially enjoyed her partner's passionate nature. However, she now finds his relentless sexual appetite exhausting. When she asked him to slow the pace, he simply laughed and declared that she was fortunate to have him.

Addressing Sex Drive Discrepancies in Relationships

Responding to the letter in Metro, Collins noted that a major difference in sexual needs is a significant challenge for any couple, though it can be resolved if no other problems exist in the relationship. She advised the woman to ask her partner directly why he feels the need for physical intimacy so frequently.

Collins suggested that his high sex drive could be driven by hormonal factors or a need for constant reassurance that his partner remains committed to him. Whatever the underlying cause, the expert emphasized that it was time for the woman to explain her own needs clearly and point out that her feelings were currently being ignored.

Differences in libido, often referred to by relationship specialists as desire discrepancy, represent one of the most common issues brought to couples therapists. Sharing a work-from-home environment can exacerbate these friction points, as overlapping personal and professional spaces make it harder to maintain boundaries during normal working hours.

Professional Therapy and Setting Boundaries

Publication of the advice follows a previous column by Collins in Metro, where she responded to a man who had to temporarily pause participating in orgies with his wife and mutual friends. In that case, the man reported that his father-in-law had begun staying overnight frequently at their home, bringing their former group sexual activities to a halt.

If sexual encounters continue to feel forced or compulsory after open discussion, Collins recommended consulting a family psychotherapist. She urged the woman to evaluate whether it makes sense to continue tolerating her partner's ongoing selfishness.

Relationship columns in major publications regularly address sexual health, communication barriers, and boundary enforcement within domestic partnerships. Mental health professionals generally recommend structured communication, mutual respect, and professional counseling when partners encounter persistent mismatches in intimacy expectations.
