AFL player Lachie Neale was spotted with his rumoured new girlfriend Emma Field at Brisbane Airport on Sunday, after the pair flew in together from Melbourne following the Lions’ Saturday night match.
The Brisbane Lions star, 33, and the brunette appeared relaxed as they made their way through the terminal, chatting and carrying matching Boost Juice drinks as they collected their luggage.
Neale kept things casual in Brisbane Lions colours, wearing navy shorts, a long-sleeved maroon club polo, a yellow Lions cap, black slippers and white socks. Emma wore an all-black ensemble consisting of an oversized hoodie, leggings and black sneakers, and carried two large bags over her shoulders.
The sighting follows a report by The Daily Telegraph that Neale had begun a new romance with Field after the breakdown of his marriage to estranged wife Jules. Neale is understood to have told friends he is now seeing someone.
Emma was previously pictured with a female friend in the stands at the Gabba during the Lions’ Round 20 clash the previous Sunday, and is also believed to have travelled to Perth a week earlier when Brisbane faced the West Coast Eagles. Followers have also noted that Neale has liked several of Emma’s Instagram photographs.
Emma reportedly works in advertising and is said to have recently discussed the possibility of transferring to Melbourne. Neither Neale nor Emma has publicly confirmed the reported relationship.
Marriage breakdown and football future
Neale and Jules announced their separation in November after Jules claimed she had been betrayed in what she described as the most unimaginable way. Neale subsequently acknowledged responsibility for the split and stepped down as Brisbane co-captain in January, issuing an apology.
The former couple have continued co-parenting their two children, Piper, four, and Freddie, one. Jules, 36, returned to her hometown of Perth with the children before Christmas and recently purchased a house there.
Speculation also continues over Neale’s football future. The unrestricted free agent is reportedly keen on a move to Victoria next season after seven years with Brisbane, with Collingwood considered to be leading the race for his signature.
