Although we still can’t draw the arrow exactly the first time, real makeup masters are already creating masterpieces that belong in a museum. At least the museum of optical illusions.
Italian makeup artist Luca Luce is famous for his surreal work. He has been working as a professional makeup artist for over 18 years, but he only started doing 3D design in 2014.
“I’m inspired by everything from magic to fantasy, I never went to art school, but I love makeup and 3D art, so I had the idea to try to draw pictures with makeup,” he explained.
At first, Luca used his own hands to create optical illusions, but then moved on to his face. The make-up artist gives free rein to his imagination, but his favorite trick is to create illusions on his own skull, from which hatches either a chick or a flower.
Luca is also passionate about abstract geometric compositions that completely change the perception of space. During his practice, he became quite skilled.
“A job as small as a spider on your face only takes half an hour. For something more complex, like cubist paintings all over your face, it takes two hours or more,” confesses the makeup artist.
