In the Eastern world, there is a particular attitude towards aromas: they are appreciated, they understand them, they know how to use them. And they try to use any means to smell fragrant – they even eat special products. Did you know that one of the most popular is also available in Russia, but is used in a completely different way?
This plant is called differently – shambhala, fenugreek, fenugreek. Surely you know its irregularly shaped golden seeds – they are put whole in cheese, and when ground, fenugreek becomes part of the utskho-suneli mixture or is used to season various exotic dishes.
In Arab countries, fenugreek is known as helba – its young shoots are also eaten (the plant belongs to the legume family), and sprouted seeds and, of course, dry seeds, which are sold by weight at any spice store. Housewives buy helba not only as a seasoning for food – they prepare a drink with special properties with it.
