“Gel polishes form a very tight “grip” with the nail plate, which is why they hold so firmly and for a long time. Removing gel polish by unprofessional methods, including the use of threads, can damage the top layer of the nail, disrupt the growth function of the nail plate and even deform the nail irreversibly. At best you will have to grow your nails to a healthy state, this process may take up to ‘at six months,’ says Daria Gazaryan, nail master at Aida Vulfova’s chain of beauty salons.

According to Daria, it is not worth removing varnish with a thread, although after that there is no desire to re-register in the salon and do a long-term manicure. And even more, you should not turn to such a technique if you have a new visit to the nail specialist.

“If you constantly wear gel polish, then at each visit the master does not completely remove it. It leaves part of the base coat so that the nail plate does not suffer. But even if you decide to completely abandon gel polish, the rest of the base should be gently removed with a special liquid or manually – with nail files and polishers. Not with threads, not with acetone, and even less by peeling off the varnish from the nail plate by hand, ”warns the expert.
