5 hairstyle mistakes that age women after 50: the opinion of hairdressers

Women are constantly bombarded with advice on how to look younger. But what if you just want to look great for your age?

The right choice of hairstyle and styling will help to achieve this – these are the mistakes that professionals advise to avoid.

Separation

As hairstylist and New York beauty salon owner Nunzio Saviano explains, our hair gets thinner with age. “If you’re over 50, a middle parting won’t flatter you,” says Nunzio. He advises either to choose a different styling method, or not to forget about the means to increase the volume of hair.

Too long hair

Long hair is associated with youth, however, according to Saviano, due to its thinning, the effect will reverse with age. According to the stylist, after 50 years, the best choice is the square: it allows you to add volume to the curls, and different haircut options allow you to correct even the most “problematic” face shapes.

“Flat” hairstyle

Even for those who prefer even-length hair, Saviano advises adding a few thin layers to frame the face. “The ideal place to start layers is the cheekbone. Focus on it and you instantly tighten the oval, ”says the stylist.

Hair too dark

As colorist Felicia Dosso explains, raven hair only looks good up to a certain age, and after 50 it only accentuates all the fine lines and wrinkles. “Choose a lighter shade that won’t draw too much attention to the skin,” advises Felicia.

Dosso also advises to be careful with ash tones: they can make hair dull and gray. “Light reflects warmer hues better, which ultimately creates shine,” says the colorist.

girly accessories

It doesn’t matter how old you are – at any age you can put a bandage on your head or gather your hair in a ponytail. However, after 50, hairdressers advise avoiding brightly colored rubber bands and colored hairpins. Instead, it is better to choose chic and expensive accessories, for example, silk scarves or wooden or bone combs.
