Former US President Donald Trump highly values family ties – his administration during the leadership of the country included his daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner. However, until today, few people knew that Kushner, who, together with his father-in-law, solved issues of national importance (he was Trump’s senior assistant), suffered from cancer in 2019.
In his new memoir, Breaking History: A White House Memoir, due out August 23, Kushner details that period in his life. He learned about oncology quite by accident, during a trip to the opening of the Louis Vuitton factory. The man did not feel a single symptom, but he regularly took general tests, thanks to which the doctors managed to notice something was wrong.
White House doctor Sean Conley dragged me into the medical booth aboard Air Force One and said, “The test results are in. It looks like you have cancer. We need to urgently schedule an operation, ”Kushner recalled.
Fortunately, the man managed to overcome thyroid cancer. He underwent surgery on the eve of Thanksgiving last year, right during tense trade deal negotiations with China, and has managed to keep his diagnosis under wraps until now. However, rumors still reached Donald Trump himself and he was sympathetic to the problems of his son-in-law.
The day before the operation, Trump called me to the Oval Office and motioned for his team to close the door,” Kushner said. “He asked, “Nervous before the operation? I’m the president. I know everything. I understand that you want to keep these things under wraps. I prefer to keep things to myself too. You’ll be fine. Don’t worry about work. We’ve got it all figured out here.”
Now Jared has retired from politics for a while and runs the global investment firm Affinity Partners.
Recall that in mid-July, at the age of 74, Ivana Trump, a businesswoman, fashion designer, first wife of Donald Trump and mother of his three children, Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric, died of cardiac arrest. Trump was the first to speak publicly about the loss, writing about Ivana’s passing on his blog.
