The second day was dedicated to samba
The great attractions of the night were like the stars Zeca Pagodinho, Roberta Sá and Mariene de Castro. This is because each day of the festival program has a musical genre as its theme. This Friday, the 15th, the chosen one was the most carioca of rhythms: the samba.
The presentation was called “The show must go on‘ and it all started immediately with the samba veteran, Zeca Pagodinho. The singer was the one who spent the least time on stage, but was responsible for gathering the crowd around the stage from 6.50pm onwards. In his repertoire he sang undisputed hits, such as “Let Life Take Me”, “Heart in Disarray” and “Truth”.
The carioca show was also awaited by street vendors who sold drinks on site. Zeca We said goodbye without fanfare, inviting the Bahians Mariene de Castro go on stage and leave the space shortly after. The singer won over the already “hot” audience and kept the pace, with songs like “Ponto de Nanã” and “Oxóssi”.
Then it was time to do it Pretinho da Serrinhawho guided the cadence of the orchestra that accompanied the artists in the lineup. The samba singer celebrated the Best samba album won at the Latin Grammy Thursday 14. The title went to ‘Xande Canta Caetano’, starring Xande de Pilares and produced by him.

From that moment on the program was all female. Names like Roberta Sá, Teresa Cristina AND Maria Rita brought the audience to their feet in Praça Mauá, even after it started raining there. In fact, water even became a ‘poetic’ resource for Elis’ daughter Regina, who sang ‘Água de Rain no mar’, by Beth Carvalho, while the locals were bathed in the drops.
Next to Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezesthe singers concluded the evening by singing the day’s title song, “The Show Must Go On.” The responsible person Ministry of Culture it strengthened the festival’s motivation and even played with its current position.
“This is not just a festival. It’s a message of what we want. We want a more just and sustainable world. Long live Brazil, long live our president Lulalong live Rio,” he celebrated. When it came time to sing, Margareth advised, “Right now I’m a minister, but my heart is that of an artist.”
Shouts of “Lula” and kiss from Janja
Despite the presence of big samba stars, the person who received most of the euphoric screams from the audience was the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)which wasn’t even there. Every time someone thanked or mentioned the president, a loud chorus of “hello Lula” could be heard in Praça Mauá. The excitement increased when the event manager, Janja da Silva, appeared on stage.
As host, the first lady concluded the evening by thanking the audience and calling the performers back to the stage for the final number.
Eventually, he even sent a message to Lula: “I wanted to send a kiss to my love who is at home watching us, kiss love! Tomorrow he is here with us,” leading the audience to scream. The president must participate in the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty Festival this Saturday, 16th, after the closing event of the G20 Social.
