Alice Marcone She has a diverse career and is now known for her work as a screenwriter, actress, singer and presenter, but the multifaceted artist has also walked the catwalks and has a past in the world of fashion. In an interview with With you!remembers part of this journey and talks about his relationship with the fashion market: “Very biased”declares.

Modeling career

Before being recognized for her talent in audiovisual and music, Alice began her journey as a model in 2016. Although she modeled and participated in advertising campaigns, she distanced herself from the fashion market after facing the barriers imposed by prejudices related to his gender identity.

“I ended up moving away from the market because I found it very prejudicial and violent towards me due to my gender identity. In 2018 I started working in the audiovisual sector, as an actress and screenwriter, where I felt much more welcomed and with many more opportunities”comments.

Her modeling career took a backseat, but Alice re-entered the industry when she was invited to write the screenplay Born for fashiona Brazilian reality show focusing on trans youth in their quest to conquer the catwalks. “I was very grateful for this opportunity, because, with the program, I was able to address different issues that made me leave the fashion market and try to transform them through entertainment and the representation of new bodies in this environment”says the artist who was then invited to present the second season of the reality show.

More than a reality show

For the artist and presenter, the Born for fashion not only puts trans models in the spotlight, but also stimulates important reflections on inclusion and diversity in the fashion and entertainment market. The impact goes far beyond the screens and catwalks.

“With the large absorption of reality TV participants into the market, I think I have achieved my goal, and I think we maintain this legacy with the second season, now also giving visibility to the identities of transmasculine people who want to occupy this market”reflects underlining some changes in the new season of the program, which until then had only had trans women as protagonists.

Alice highlights the transformative role of reality in the lives of participants and the public: “The program helps raise awareness among viewers of the humanity, power, creativity and beauty of trans people, leading to greater general public acceptance of the trans community. It also introduces several new talents to the market and many were absorbed”.

The topics and discussions present in the episodes full of fashion and glamour, for Alice, go far beyond the superficial. “They certainly also help to generate reflections so that those who work in fashion can think about how to be more inclusive and diverse”scores.

The challenges of a new role

In addition to being the program’s scriptwriter, Alice took on the role of presenter, a role that required careful adaptation. “I believe that being the scriptwriter of the program helped me a lot to be aware of how to present and host it. The presence on stage, the ease in memorizing a text and following a script were certainly acting skills that helped me as a presenter.. in the first season, I think I was still very raw, but in the second season I was able to play the role with even more preparation and awareness”reports.

He also shares command of the reality show with Alice Lais RibeiroBrazilian top model who brings a new dynamic to the presentation. “Laís is one of the kindest and most loved people I know, as well as being extremely competent and professional. From her I learned a lot about how to offer listening and space to participants, about generosity and, of course, how to be a better role model”he says with admiration.

The artist’s relationship with fashion, troubled by violence and prejudice, takes on a new meaning. Today Alice sees it as “tool for the expression of art and subjectivity”. “I want to continue fighting to make this market more and more diversified”, he concludes.
