Spanish television personality Gloria Camila Ortega has condemned her uncle Amador Mohedano on Telecinco for revealing painful details about her parents' marriage.
Speaking on the television program El verano se mueve, Ortega criticized Mohedano for publicly revisiting claims that her late mother, singer Rocío Jurado, had considered divorcing retired bullfighter José Ortega Cano.
Mohedano, who is Jurado's brother, detailed past arguments between the couple that contrasted with their public image of marital harmony. He claimed that he had to intervene personally during one clash, confronting Ortega Cano outside a theater to prevent the dispute from escalating.
Ortega returned to the studio following a summer vacation and admitted she was deeply angered by the broadcast. She stated that her uncle's television appearance served to reignite long-standing rumors rather than quiet them, adding that she did not find the situation amusing after hearing about the conflict for years.

Private conversations and tension
The dispute on set followed a tense private conversation between Ortega and her uncle. Mohedano later acknowledged the private discussion, explaining that he had intended to offer a light summary of his own personal memories and biography rather than spark a public scandal.
Mohedano argued that he was the only person in a position to share those experiences. Although he apologized to Ortega for causing her distress, he encouraged her to listen to past events, claiming it could help her better understand both her mother and father.

Ortega noted that while her initial anger faded once her vacation began, she draws a firm boundary between private family conversations and public television broadcasts. She explained that private chats with her uncle normally center on fond memories of her mother, including family holidays, a gifted car, and trips to New York that occurred when she was too young to remember.
Family legacy and moving forward
Ortega explained that she avoids discussing painful marital episodes with anyone, including her father. She maintained that digging into past controversies was unnecessary, choosing instead to hold onto the memory of her parents as a happy couple until Jurado's death in 2006.
When show host Ion Aramendi suggested during the broadcast that avoiding the topic was equivalent to burying her head in the sand, Ortega rejected the characterization. She responded that she simply prefers to focus on the love her parents shared with each other and gave to her.
José Ortega Cano married Rocío Jurado in 1995, and the couple later adopted Gloria Camila Ortega in 1999. Jurado, widely regarded as one of Spain's most prominent musical artists, passed away in 2006, leaving her family under frequent Spanish media attention.
Ortega had joined El verano se mueve expecting a calm return to television after commenting on recent celebrity news, including Julia Janeiro and Belén Esteban. However, her uncle's statements forced her to address her family's private history once again on air.
