The route of a new power cable planned between the United Kingdom and Ireland has been changed after mass complaints from Harry Potter fans, The Telegraph reported.
The cable was originally set to pass through Freshwater West beach in Wales, the site where the death scene of the house-elf Dobby was filmed for the film series. The beach has since become a landmark for Harry Potter fans, who visit to honor the character and leave mementos.
Local approval, then backlash
The project had already received approval from local authorities. But once the planned cable route was announced, the developers began receiving hundreds of phone calls of complaint.
Following the complaints, the decision was made to route the energy cable through a different location instead.
