Television presenter Ion Aramendi and his wife, influencer Maria Amores, were accused on air of stealing a pool float from their Telecinco show. The accusation followed the publication of beach photographs taken during their recent vacation.
Aramendi took on hosting duties for the Telecinco program El verano se mueve, which has achieved strong audience ratings. Although the assignment reduced his summer vacation, he shared studio space with Amores, who makes regular appearances on set. The couple traveled to La Manga del Mar Menor in Murcia to relax, recharge, and avoid media attention.
Paparazzi tracked the couple to the coast, capturing images of them sunbathing in swimsuits and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. The exclusive photographs appeared on the cover of the Wednesday edition of Diez Minutos magazine, after Telecinco broadcast a preview on Tuesday.
Before Aramendi viewed the photos on set, the program teased the segment by describing him as the hunter hunted. Aramendi defended his criticized floral swimsuit, stating that he did not look bad. The following day, colleagues turned their focus to an alleged infraction committed by his wife during the beach trip.
Criticism and prop theft allegations
Aramendi noted that he knew his team would play a trick on him after hearing them criticize his swimsuit all morning. Fellow presenters Marta Lopez, Carmen Alcayde, and Leticia Requejo labeled his floral swimwear hideous, though they complimented the outfit worn by Amores. In response, Aramendi and Amores stated that television makes people look heavier and older, adding that they look much better in real life.
The show then presented formal accusations against the couple through a dramatic voiceover. The voiceover declared that the program had identified the material author, the accomplice, and the missing item. The voiceover stated that Aramendi and Amores had stolen a pool float, describing the object as a sacred symbol representing the spirit of the program.

Amores defended her actions by explaining that the beach trip occurred the day after visiting Cartagena, which coincided with her daughter's birthday. She said she decided to take a small present from the show for the child. Aramendi added that their daughter had awakened from a nap in a bad mood, prompting him to ask the artistic director for permission to take the float home.
Aramendi stressed that they are humble people and clarified that the incident involved a formal request rather than theft. He said the situation ultimately provided a humorous moment for the studio audience.
