Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has posted a photo with his girlfriend Katy Perry on Instagram as part of a summer highlights recap.
The 54-year-old politician shared the picture showing the couple smiling and enjoying a pint of beer together on Friday, drawing enthusiastic comments from fans online.
The Instagram montage captured moments from recent weeks, including a catch-up with former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, his daughter Ella-Grace's graduation, and a family holiday.
Relationship history and public debut
Trudeau and American pop singer Perry, 41, have been dating for just over a year. The couple first sparked romance rumors when they were spotted having dinner together in Montreal in July last year.
About half a year into their romance, the pair took the next step and made their relationship Instagram official in December.
Earlier this summer, Trudeau and Perry made their red carpet debut at the 25th Annual Tribeca Festival in New York City, where they attended the premiere of the concert film Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour - Live from Paris.
Speaking to People at the event, the singer opened up about her relationship. "I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life," Perry said. "I am very in love. And actually, that show was after I met the love of my life and so I felt very anchored by that because I'm a little bit like a rainbow kite."
Family summer highlights
Trudeau captioned his summer roundup with a message of appreciation for those close to him. "Grateful for the moments that made this summer so special, and for the people I got to share them with," he wrote.
The politician was previously married to retired television host Sophie Gregoire for 18 years before they announced their separation in August 2023. The former couple share three children: Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, 12.
Among the photos shared in the post was a catch-up celebrating his daughter Ella-Grace's graduation, as well as pictures from a summer holiday spent with all three of his children.
Additional photos in the Instagram post showed Trudeau spending quality time with his youngest son, Hadrien, during the family break.
Previous relationship with Orlando Bloom
Before dating Trudeau, Perry was in a long-term relationship with British actor Orlando Bloom. The pair started dating in 2016 and got engaged in 2019, though they never tied the knot before calling it quits mid-last year after nine years together.
Perry and Bloom share a five-year-old daughter named Daisy. Bloom also has a 15-year-old son, Flynn, with his ex-wife, Australian model Miranda Kerr. Last summer, Perry and Bloom amicably holidayed together with Daisy and Flynn.
Amid news of their breakup last year, representatives for the former couple told the Daily Mail that they had "been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting."
Insiders added: "They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is - and always will be - raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect." Perry was also briefly married to British comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.
