La Promesa: Angela Bans Duke of Buenaventura From Wedding

Angela banned the Duke of Buenaventura from her wedding to Curro on Spanish drama La Promesa after he admitted leaking Maximo's paternity to newspapers.

The Duke confessed that he personally sent the story to press outlets in an attempt to control the public narrative surrounding the family.

His maneuver backfired when Angela removed her father from all preparations for her upcoming nuptials and flatly barred him from walking her down the aisle.

Del compromiso de María y Carlo al escondite de las cocineras: "La Promesa" sacude la sobremesa de la semana
From the engagement of Maria and Carlo to the hideout of the cooks: La Promesa shakes up RTVE's afternoon schedule.

La Promesa is a hit daily period drama airing on La 1, the flagship television channel of Spanish public broadcaster RTVE. Set in an early 20th-century countryside palace, the serial focuses on the secrets, scandals, and romance dividing the noble Lujan family upstairs and their domestic staff below.

The aristocratic family now fears the social scandal of seeing Angela's father absent from the altar during the high-profile ceremony. Despite intense family pressure and the risk of public disgrace, Angela has refused to break her stance, while Leocadia coldly observes the collapse of the Duke's reputation.

Marriage Proposal in the Servant Quarters

Downstairs in the palace servant quarters, Carlo gathered his courage to formally propose marriage to maid Maria Fernandez. Maria accepted the proposal, sparking widespread joy among her female colleagues following the scene.

However, the engagement has created new emotional rifts among the domestic staff. Samuel was unable to conceal his grief over Maria taking the step, setting the stage for rising emotional conflict below stairs.

Maria has insisted on an express, secret, and austere wedding conducted far from the sight of the palace nobility. She demanded that the ceremony be officiated by an outside priest so as not to compromise the clergyman's standing.

Illegal Permits and Hidden Cooks

Business dealings at the estate have taken a corrupt turn as Ciro and Lorenzo formed a secret partnership. The pair are taking advantage of heir Manuel's ongoing distractions to secure irregular licenses and split the profits behind his back.

Manuel remains preoccupied by his growing romantic intimacy with Julieta. The couple have narrowly avoided exposure several times due to reckless behavior during their walks around the estate.

Those same walks led Manuel and Julieta to uncover the major secret of the palace kitchens. Cooks Simona and Candela have not departed the region as believed, but are hiding in a local shelter with the complicity of the young couple.

Simona and Candela chose to remain in hiding rather than submit to the tyrannical supervision of the Duke's men. Meanwhile, Maximo openly threatened the Duke's agents with dismissal following continuous complaints and obstacles raised by the service staff.

Intimidation and Murder Secret

Tension in the domestic quarters continues to escalate following the arrival of Tomasa. After cornering Petra into taking on the role of housekeeper, Tomasa has used past grudges to enforce her authority through threats and intimidation.

The campaign of intimidation has forced Petra into a difficult crossroads and sparked bitter clashes with the rest of the staff, leaving the servant quarters on a war footing.

Meanwhile, Pia is waiting for the ideal moment after Curro's wedding to deliver a devastating revelation. Pia plans to expose Leocadia's direct involvement in the death of Jana, a disclosure set to shake the foundations of the palace.
