Leticia Nannetti’s project for CASACOR SP presents a reflection on the past and identity through craftsmanship.
At his second participation in the exhibition, the architect Letizia Nannetti created a delicate laundry project that goes beyond its practical purpose.
The “EnCantos” environment delves into references that pay homage to the roots and rich cultural diversity of Minas Gerais, the professional’s home state.

“In my reflections, I realized that the future is based on the past. So, I followed a very pleasant path by bringing my origins into space,” he analyzes.
In times gone by, the home laundry had a great symbolic value, being a room of fond memories, where mothers and grandmothers carried out activities of taking care of clothes and the house.

With 35 m², the place has been meticulously designed to evoke a welcoming atmosphere in a fusion between tradition and contemporaneity, represented by the carpentry design and appliance technology which integrate discreetly.
“As a result, the visitor will notice the subtle link that unites the effusive charm of the past with the practicality of the present,” he evaluates.

The room also highlights the visual and sensorial richness of traditional elementsAS embroidery, weaving, ceramics and wicker. The naturalness of the materials is also noticeable on the floor, with different shades that recall the brickand in the wall covering, which highlights a rustic aesthetic.
A meticulously planned carpentryoutlines the entire laundry room in its different activities and helps organize objects. LED lighting adds charm and enhances decorative objects.

“Along with clothes, products and accessories, the environment also receives other pleasures from the resident, such as gardening moments,” he explains.
EnCantos is the result of an immersive curation that Leticia has carried out by visiting cities like Tiradentes, which every year brings together visitors for its Creative Week, Barbacena and Serra at Ibitipocawhere embroiderers pass on their skills from generation to generation.

“This stage moved me a lot, because this process allowed me to meet incredible people. Art, the result of the work of each craftsman, expresses the unique traits of the human being and this knowledge added lessons to me in a very special way,” he recalls.
The species grown in large ceramic pots recall a place of decompression, refuge and connection, just like in times past. And to encourage permanence and well-being clothes I’m in the washing machine, the sofa with cushions decorated with yo-yos has been added.

In the background, the elaborate landscape benefits from natural light coming from the windows of the building that houses CASACOR.
According to the architect, the laundry expresses the meanings of clothing, which both satisfies the primary needs of human beings and underlines, through images, the identity of each person.

“All this parallel that we draw in our “EnCantos” symbolizes the importance of living the past for the construction of today. What matters and touches our soul must always be with us. Recovering these feelings is one of the most beautiful movements that current architecture has awakened in us professionals and in people who seek to strengthen and establish their own connections within the spaces in which they live”, concludes Leticia.
