The fittest woman in the world goes to the gym up to 3 times a day, but rests on Sundays

Hungarian Laura Horváth is a professional CrossFit athlete and received the title in 2023, but left the competition after the death of a colleague

Professional CrossFit athlete Laura Horváth, 27, has been named “the fittest woman on the planet” after winning the 2023 CrossFit Games, an annual competition among the world’s top CrossFit athletes.

Hungarian, Laura was a climber and became a CrossFit fan after her brother introduced her to one of the sport’s “workouts of the day.” This year, 2024, she came first in the European semifinal.

In an interview with the magazine Women’s HealthThe athlete shared his physical training routine. Of course, he follows a very rigorous training program and during his free time from competitions he rests on Sundays.

  • “N/A MondayI do two sessions at the CrossFit gym in the morning and afternoon, one more focused on weight lifting or strength training, and the other more focused on cardio. At night, at a weight training gym, I do cable exercises on weight machines.”
  • “N/A TuesdayI do a swimming session in the morning and then two CrossFit sessions in the gym in the afternoon and evening.”
  • “TO WednesdayI’ll do the same as on Monday: two gym sessions and one weight training session.”
  • “TO Thursday are my active recovery days. I swim in the morning and sometimes I run.”
  • “N/A FridayI have two gym sessions and then a weight training session.
  • “Node SaturdayI run in the morning and then do a CrossFit session in the afternoon.”

Sunday is Laura’s day off and she says it’s important to relax and spend time with her loved ones. “I watch TV on the couch, hang out with my dog, or I go to my parents’ house for lunch and play board games, or I see my friends and go for coffee,” she tells the magazine.

The most important thing for Laura is healing with a good night’s sleep. She says she sleeps and rests a lot to start her days off right, but warns that not everything is as it seems on social media.

Retirement after the athlete’s death

“No one wants to show the difficult days when training didn’t go as you wanted or when you don’t feel like getting up at 7 and prefer to sleep later. These days exist and are much more frequent than you think,” says the athlete.

Laura decided not to compete in the CrossFit Games this year after Serbian athlete Lazar Dukić, 28, drowned during a swimming event at the competition.

“We have decided that, for us, continuing to compete at the 2024 CrossFit Games does not honor Lazar in the way we would like,” the athlete posted on his Instagram profile.

In the 2024 CrossFit Games for women, Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr dominated the competition, followed by Gabriela Migala and Emily Rolfe. Among the Brazilian athletes, Andreia Pinheiro finished in 28th place and Julia Kato in 30th.
