The expert underlines which simple daily attitudes can contribute to strong mental health and prevent more serious disorders
A troubled routine and daily worries constantly threaten our well -being and mental health. But some relatively simple attitudes can contribute to the balance of emotions.
A person who regularly practices physical activities, for example, is preventing bad mood from the emergence of more serious diseases. An example is depression, which reaches more than 20 million people in Brazil alone, according to WHO (World Health Organization).
According to dr. Sérgio Rocha, psychiatrist and technical director of the Revitalis Clinic, you can prevent some types of disorders by inserting some activities in the routine, such as walking, eating well and sleeping. “Of course it is a form of prevention. This means reducing the possibilities of developing psychic paintings. However, there are other factors that can trigger these disorders,” he says.
With this in mind, the psychiatrist has listed five suggestions that can contribute to well -being, providing the balance of mental health and, consequently, preventing more problems and more difficult treatment in the future. Check:
Therapy
Psychotherapy is a very important weapon when we talk about mental health. The big question is that most people seek help only when they already have a problem, and this is clear from the result of a recent survey by the FSB institute, commissioned by Sulamérica, which indicates that 60% of the Brazilians who make therapy started during the pandemic, that is, when they turn to a demanding situation for everyone.
According to Sérgio, taking care of mental health before having an inconvenience, as a preventive form, is ideal. “Mental health treatment is not limited to an event, it is a continuous job and the balanced during life can make the difference”, recommends the expert.
Physical activity
It is increasingly clear that regular physical exercise contributes to a healthier life in various ways. People who practice are less likely to develop, for example, disorders of depression and anxiety.
“The habit of carrying out physical activities – such as walking, running or other sports – is essential to balance mental health, as well as being very important for well -being in general,” comments the expert. “It is said a lot about the risks of physical inactivity for the development of hypertension, diabetes and heart disease, but it is important to keep in mind that there are also risks for the development of mental illness”, warns dr. Rocha.
Food
Eating well and balanced your meals during the day is also a way to take care of mental health. A person who feeds badly does not contribute to health in general, warns the doctor. The combination of good nutrition with other factors such as exercise can increase the sense of well -being.
“The food is completely linked to other healthy habits, such as the quality of sleep itself, the intake of water, etc. the cure is never unique, so they are on various fronts, so the approach should be integrated”, recommends the professional.
Meditation
The benefits of meditation are many: the practice reduces stress, reduces depressive and anxious symptoms, improves memory and quality of sleep and also reduces addictions and compulsions. In addition, it has benefits of chronic diseases.
“All this is directly or indirectly linked to mental health, therefore the practice of meditation is an excellent alternative for well -being,” says the expert.
Rest
Both insomnia and excess sleep can contribute to the emergence of a sort of psychic disease, such as anxiety and even the abuse disorders of a certain substance. “Good health depends directly on quality sleep, which is why it is necessary to rest. Sleeping a lot or having insomnia very often will reduce the well -being of the person. Furthermore, it could be an indicative that the person has some inconvenience,” says the psychiatrist.
According to him, sleeping on average 8 hours per night is ideal for the person to wake up to carry out all their duties of the day and have a good quality of life, in every aspect.
