Television personality Maura Higgins is selling her unwanted designer and high-street clothing items on online marketplace Vinted for prices ranging from £16 to £1,800.
The former Love Island star, 35, has listed over 60 pre-owned garments and fashion accessories on her profile while currently living in the United States to perform on the television competition Dancing With The Stars. Higgins is the latest celebrity to sell her secondhand wardrobe online to earn extra cash.
Vinted is a popular peer-to-peer digital marketplace that allows users to buy, sell, and swap secondhand clothing, footwear, and accessories directly with other members.
Higgins rose to public prominence in 2019 after appearing as a contestant on the fifth series of Love Island, a British reality dating show broadcast on ITV2. She has since established a career as a television presenter, model, and social media influencer.
Designer pieces and high-street fashion listings
The most expensive item up for grabs on her Vinted page is a chic Fendi clutch priced at £1,800. The cheapest offering is a used hot pink minidress from Oh Polly for £16.
Her digital wardrobe also includes a khaki blazer from PrettyLittleThing priced at £20 and a brand-new satin minidress from Zara for £22, alongside a sexy yoga leotard.
Fendi is a luxury Italian fashion house headquartered in Rome and known for its high-end leather accessories. Oh Polly and PrettyLittleThing are UK-based online fashion retailers, while Zara is a global fast-fashion brand owned by the Spanish retail company Inditex.
Dancing With The Stars rehearsal breakdown
Alongside her online sales, Higgins recently reached the next round of Dancing With The Stars alongside her 40-year-old professional dance partner Mark Ballas. She marked the milestone by sharing a sweet post with Ballas on Instagram.
Dancing With The Stars is a long-running American dance competition show broadcast on ABC, in which celebrities partner with professional ballroom dancers to perform choreographed routines before a panel of judges and public voters. Ballas and Higgins previously appeared together on the US version of the reality competition show The Traitors.
It was a difficult week of rehearsals for Higgins, who broke down in tears while trying to learn the Cha Cha Cha. She had previously topped the leaderboard during the debut episode of season 35, which added to the pressure on her performance.
Higgins and Ballas posted a joint rehearsal video showing their training before appearing on the live show in their full costumes. They captioned the clip "I tink I can't" (sic), and Higgins re-shared the post to her Instagram stories with the caption: "This dance has killed me."
Speaking to US Weekly about her emotional moment in practice, Higgins explained why she began crying during rehearsals.
Higgins told US Weekly: "Genuinely, I was so annoyed at myself because I’m more of a "suffer in silence" [type], and I couldn’t hold it in, like, I had a lump in my throat."
She added: "I was hormonal, I was tired, I was mentally, physically exhausted [and] I couldn’t get the dance in my brain, like, it wouldn’t go in. I kept thinking, "I only have three days. I have to perform in three days, what am I gonna do? Do this on the floor? "I’m in my head a lot, and I really need to learn to just stop and relax and enjoy this because it’s a dream show for me. And yeah, bless Mark. I don’t know how he put up with me this week, honestly."
Despite her rehearsal frustration, Higgins delivered a routine to the song September by American disco and funk group Earth, Wind & Fire, earning a score of 19 out of 30 from the judging panel.
Viral Hits Night scores and eliminations
The episode took place during the show's Viral Hits Night, where couples danced to famous chart-topping songs. Routines were evaluated by judges Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba.
Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis, 56, became the third contestant eliminated from season 35. Partnered with professional dancer Alan Bersten, De Laurentiis performed a salsa routine to the track CHULA by Becky G that featured flips and lifts, but scored 12 out of 30 before being sent home.
De Laurentiis is an Italian-American chef, cookbook author, and television personality known for her long-running shows on the Food Network.
Meanwhile, 45-year-old Step Up actress Jenna Dewan scored high enough to join a three-way tie for the top spot on the leaderboard. Dewan gained international fame after starring in the 2006 dance film Step Up.
Remaining contestants competing for the trophy
The remaining celebrity contestants continue to compete for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, named in honour of the show's late head judge.
Female contenders left in the competition include 45-year-old Golden Globe nominee Julia Stiles, who made her show debut last week, alongside The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actress Tatyana Ali, Olympic gold medalist Amber Glenn, and Summer House star Ciara Miller.
Stiles is an American actress known for her roles in 10 Things I Hate About You and the Bourne film franchise, while Ali played Ashley Banks on the 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
The remaining male lineup features The Bachelor fan favourite Tyler Cameron, Paralympian Ezra Frech, pop-rock musician Taylor Hanson of the band Hanson, athlete Jackson Olson, Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez, Glee actor Harry Shum Jr., and comedian Connor Wood.
