Mayte Zaldívar, the widow of former Marbella official Julián Muñoz, has denied reports that her relationship with her boyfriend Fernando Marcos has broken down. She addressed the rumors on Monday after Telecinco's program 'Fiesta' suggested the couple was going through a deep crisis over the weekend.
The program had claimed the pair had gone their separate ways and were no longer in contact. It also suggested Fernando Marcos had grown close to other women, a claim host Enrique del Pozo appeared to support.
According to the account given on 'Fiesta', the relationship had actually been broken for years, but the two had kept up appearances out of lingering affection. The program claimed the strain began when Zaldívar remarried Julián Muñoz, the father of her daughters, which she did before becoming his widow. Del Pozo said he had been told the relationship had been broken for a long time and that the couple had a kind of open relationship, because Fernando had not been happy when she married Julián Muñoz.
Claims of affairs in Marbella
'Fiesta' also reported that Fernando Marcos had allegedly had affairs with two women in Marbella, and that this had reached Zaldívar and triggered a crisis, not recently but five years ago.

Zaldívar addressed the claims directly when asked live by host Santi Acosta. She said she currently has the same relationship she had 23 years ago, that Fernando remains part of her family and will continue to be part of her family, and that it is others who attach labels to it. She said she would not label her relationship with Fernando, adding that he has not appeared on television in a long time and she would not be the one to speak badly of him.
She did not clarify whether the two have an open relationship.
Pressed on the other women
Host Bea Archidona pressed her for clarity, asking about the women her partner had reportedly been seeing recently. Zaldívar laughed and told her not to believe everything she is told, adding that Fernando is not "on the market" because he runs his own company.
Lydia Lozano asked her to be more forceful and say clearly if the claims were false. Zaldívar said she could promise and swear it was false, denying the information presented on 'Fiesta' by Enrique del Pozo.
She said she did not know where the rumors came from, suggesting those spreading them might be short of news, since Fernando avoids the camera but was present with her during the interview in Marbella, though he prefers to stay out of the spotlight. She said people can think what they want because her personal relationship is not public. Zaldívar and Marcos previously appeared together on the reality show 'Supervivientes', which turned them into high-profile media figures.
