Verdão can achieve two historic milestones in his arena if Massa Bruta wins this Saturday
Palmeiras will take the field this Saturday, at 18:30, to face Bragantino, at the Allianz Parque. The match could be worth the return of Verdão at the helm of Brasileirão pending the result of Botafogo. However, the match could mean a few more historic milestones for this Abel Ferreira side. If they win the match, Alviverde will set two important records in their arena: for victories and for invincibility.
By beating Massa Bruta this Saturday, Palmeiras could reach the single record of consecutive victories in the history of the Allianz Parque, inaugurated in 2014. Currently, with ten consecutive triumphs (since 9 February this year), they have already equaled the former best single mark , recorded between January and April 2022. That is, two historical achievements in the Abel Ferreira era.
With a victory over Bragantino, Verdão could also reach the greatest undefeated streak in the history of the arena. The current record stands at 27 games without defeat (W21, D6) since July 2022 and is close to the record of 28 games set between August 2016 and June 2017 (W21, D7). In that period, Alviverde won the 2016 Brazilian championship.
Palmeiras are unbeaten at Allianz Parque this year and, so far, record their best performance in history, with a success rate of 88.8% (ten wins and two draws in 12 games) against 82.8 % of 2022.
Verdão is the Serie A team with the best home season this season (90.47%, followed by Athletico-PR, with 89.74%). For the Brazilian championship they have 100% success at home, with three victories in three games, all at the Allianz Parque. The last home defeat for the competition was in July 2022, by Hurricane.
It is worth mentioning that, of the last 106 games, regardless of the opponent, the league or the home ground, Palmeiras have lost only nine, for a total of 70 wins and 27 draws. There have only been three defeats in their most recent 42 games (Internacional, in the last round of the 2022 Brasileiro, with the title already guaranteed; Água Santa, in the first leg of the 2023 Paulista final; and Bolívar-BOL, for the 2023 Libertadores).
Alviverde is the vice-leader of Brasileirão with 13 points in five rounds. With a three-point gap for third place, Verdão only lose second place if they are overtaken on goal difference. But to be leader you will need to win and hope for a rock in Botafogo, currently at the top of the standings. Cariocas face Goiás, away from home, this Sunday at 18:30.
