It’s a hit on Netflix: From the creators of Mario, this animated movie will have the whole family singing along

Looking for a family movie to watch on Netflix tonight? Did your kids love Super Mario Bros (in theaters April 5)? And have you never seen the excellent sequel Tous en scène, which comes out in December 2021?

Don’t go any further! Available on the platform for a month, this animated film, which attracted more than a million viewers in French cinemas, is the 7th most viewed feature film this week on the platform.

Signed by Illumination studios, who recently released sparks with the successful adaptation of the famous Nintendo license, but who knew it primarily for the Despicable Me saga, Tous en scène humorously and deftly parodies the famous TV hook show. We follow the hapless adventures of Buster Moon, the director of the Little Koala Theater, who tries to restore his image by attracting new singing stars.

In this new opus, he goes above and beyond and challenges himself to organize a brand new show in collaboration with the ruthless Jimmy Crystal, a true wolf in every sense of the word. To win her trust, Buster promises to convince retired rock star Leo Clay Calloway to return to the stage.

As successful as the first part, Tous en scène 2 benefits from flawless animation, perfect rhythm and irresistible characters such as Ash the rocker the badger, Johnny the gorilla with the velvety voice, Meena the elephant with the powerful organ and of course Miss Crowley, the chameleon secretary who really doesn’t have Eyes in front of holes.

Obviously – a musical comedy obliges – the film has a lot of famous songs. You will see for example tracks by Billie Eilish, Elton John or U2.

With an average rating of 4,106 stars out of 5 from AlloCiné viewers, it is the second best film produced by Illumination (behind only Super Mario Bros and its rating of 4,142 out of 5).
