Following a response from the Writers Guild (WGA), the Film and Television Producers Alliance (AMPTP) publicly released its counter-proposal detailing points such as artificial intelligence (AI), data transparency and streaming.
The document outlines the proposal, which includes higher wages and a requirement for at least two employees in the writers’ room, as well as the guaranteed minimum of ten weeks’ work, highlights the The limit. The AMPTP counter-proposal also “addresses all issues that the WGA has identified as its top priorities.”
“This new package substantially improves on previous AMPTP proposals. The complete package also comes with unprecedented offers for writers, including unprecedented terms in the areas of generative AI, data transparency and minimum staffing.
Response from the WGA
In an official statement, the writers union says that the AMPTP allegations are a strategy to disarm the WGA and, above all, to bring it to collapse.
We received an invitation to meet Bob Iger, Donna Langley, Ted Sarandos, David Zaslav and Carol Lombardini. He was accompanied by the message that it was time to end this strike and that the companies were finally ready to negotiate a settlement. We accepted the invitation and, in good faith, met tonight in the hope that business would take industry back to work seriously.

But what seemed like an attempt at a solution turned into a trap to confuse the will of the Alliance with the reasons for the stop. “We were greeted with a lecture about how good their one counteroffer was.”
“We explain all the ways your accountant’s limitations, loopholes, and omissions failed to sufficiently protect writers from the existential threats that drove us to strike in the first place,” the statement adds.
“But this was not a meeting to make a deal. This was a meeting destined to destroy us, which is why, less than twenty minutes after leaving the meeting, the AMPTP published its summary of its proposals.
