Un Si Grand Soleil: “It was a wish on my part”… Aysam Medem talks about the reasons for leaving

After Manuel Blanc, it is Aysam Medem, the translator of Akim Alam, who will soon say goodbye to Un si grand soleil.

From the start of the series in 2018 until now, Akeem will have many adventures under the Montpellier sun. From his darkest moments to his funniest moments, he has managed to establish himself as a main character throughout the seasons.

A few days ago, during an interview for her last arc in the series, Aysam Mede spoke to Alocine about the reasons for her departure.

Allociné: You will leave Un si grand soleil at the end of this arch. Was it a wish on your part or a product choice?

Aysam Medem : It was my wish. I wanted to free up time to experiment with other activities. Such a big sun has been around for five years now, in the good sense of the word. But whoever says full says it doesn’t leave much room for anything else. They leave space. I was able to shoot other things and each time it worked out really well in terms of a tight schedule. But it wasn’t enough compared to the time I wanted to free myself. And then I also felt that I reached the end of the character.

Are you happy with your initial arc and the ending the writers came up with?

Yes! Anyway, I’m satisfied from the start. They have always been generous to me, be it in playthings, partner games or adventures. I’ve shot with countless people in a billion different contexts and palettes. I had many stories. They developed the character of Akimi in a very original and very risky way. And I liked the risks they took with me. I hope I get back to them.

I imagine it must be difficult to leave a character you played for five years?

It wasn’t hard because I didn’t do it for the wrong reasons. I didn’t leave because I thought the grass was greener elsewhere, or because I was fed up. I went because artistically I needed a beginning and an end to this adventure. I felt it was the right time. Life is an adventure and this job is still full of discoveries. You just have to learn to turn the page and open another one.

We feel you are happy with your five years at Un si grand soleil…

Yes! I feel privileged to have experienced it all. They gave me amazing arches. For me, what I experienced was immense. Akim was a great character, I enjoyed it.
