The series based on the Stephen King universe will be titled ‘Welcome to Derry’ and will be set in the 60s
We will float again. HBO Max prepares a prequel in the form of a series of ‘It’the horror novel Stephen King which has adapted with tremendous success Andy Muschietti for the cinema with ‘It’ and ‘It. Episode 2’.
‘Welcome to Derry’ will be set in the 1960s and will recount the events that occurred before the events of ‘It’, also including the origins of the terrifying pennywise clown.
Andy Muschietti will executive produce along with Jason Fuchs and Barbara Muschietti, and will direct the pilot episode. Fuchs has been in charge of the script.
This project represents a new adaptation of the Stephen King universe, the inexhaustible source of ideas from horror movies and series, which adds to an increasingly impressive list. Among the next adaptations of the master of horror we have ‘Billy Summers‘, a miniseries that will have between 6 and 10 episodes and will be directed by Ed Zwick and produced by JJ Abrams, ‘Salem’s Lot‘, a vampire remake directed by ‘It’ writer Gary Dauberman and produced by James Wan, ‘The Boogeyman‘, with ‘Yellowjackets’ actress Sophie Thatcher and ‘Birds of Prey’ actor Chris Messina directed by Rob Savage (‘Host’), ‘Later‘, starring Lucy Liu, and a new version of ‘Fire Eyes’ produced by Blumhouse, which will be released in theaters in our country on May 13.
HBO Max is also preparing other series based on films from its company, such as andColin Farell’s Penguin spin-off from ‘The Batman’ or the project the Bene Gesserit brotherhood of Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’also in development.
At the moment it is unknown if Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd will bring Pennywise the clown back to life, but we can’t imagine the character in the hands of another actor.
