The humanitarian corridor, a stretch that connects Avenida Castello Branco to Elevada da Conceição and Rua da Conceição is already equipped with new asphalt. The service on both routes was completed this week and new signage will be installed soon. The Municipal Department of Works and Infrastructure (Smoi) has completed 90% of the services.

Over the next two weeks, work will focus on planting grass on the embankment, finishing the sidewalks at the intersection of Avenida Júlio de Castilhos and Rua da Conceição and the rainwater collection network. Lateral containment with New Jersey barriers is completed along the entire corridor. The structures were installed to signal the flow of vehicles and protect the road, as well as preventing irregular pedestrian crossings.

“We will conclude the year with another project aimed at improving mobility and security delivered to the population. The humanitarian corridor is a milestone in the history of Porto Alegre”, underlines the secretary of Smoi, André Flores. The sections remain signposted and with partial closures at certain times of the day. The work is being carried out by Sultepa and is estimated to cost R$1.4 million.
