In the video, posted on the company’s social media, the CEO also admitted that they may have taken further action in relation to the extreme heat
The CEO of Time 4 Fun, Serafim Abreu, spoke for the first time this Thursday, 23, about the controversies surrounding Taylor Swift’s shows in Rio de Janeiro. The statement comes six days after the death of Ana Clara Benevides, a fan of the singer, during her first performance in the capital of Rio.
In the video, published on the social networks of the company responsible for the North American artist’s tour in Brazil, the entrepreneur speaks of “fatality” and “extreme heat”, as well as admitting that they could have taken further actions, such as creating gray areas , change show times and emphasize permission to enter with disposable water cups.
“I decided to record this video to speak directly to our consumers, partners, fans and the general public about the Taylor Swift tour events in Rio de Janeiro. We know the enormous responsibility we have in organizing an event of this scale, therefore we must spare no effort and resources to always follow the best global practices in the industry, to ensure comfort and safety for all,” he began.
Abreu then cited the adverse weather conditions faced during the last weekend in Rio: “However, we faced days of extreme heat last weekend in Rio de Janeiro, with a very high and unprecedented thermal sensation. Yes, we recognize that we could have taken some alternative actions, in addition to all the others we have done, such as, for example, creating shaded areas in the external areas, modifying the time of the shows initially scheduled, placing greater emphasis on allowing entry with drinking glasses ‘disposable water.’
The CEO also added that what happened led the company to incorporate new practices for events on extreme heat days, which were immediately implemented at subsequent shows. He stated that with climate change these episodes will be increasingly frequent and underlined the need to rethink the action of the entire sector in the face of this new reality.
“In any case, I want to apologize to everyone who did not have the best possible experience. Producing the best event will always be our commitment. I also apologize for the delay in holding this public demonstration, as our goal was to incorporate the learnings that we had. Unfortunately, for the first time in more than 40 years of activity, we had a fatal accident during an event organized by Time for Fun. We are absolutely devastated, very saddened by the loss of young Ana Clara, despite timely treatment and all the efforts made by the medical teams during the event and in the hospital,” he said.
The statement comes a day after Rio’s Civil Police opened an investigation to investigate the producer after what happened on the show. Furthermore, Ana Clara’s parents, Drika and Weiny Machado, reported that they had to resort to fundraising to pay for the transfer of her daughter’s body. According to a statement released by the family, Rio de Janeiro City Hall and Time 4 Fun did not assist them at any time.
What is known about the death of a fan at Taylor Swift concert
In the video, the CEO of T4F expressed his condolences to Ana Clara’s family and stated: “I express here, now publicly, our willingness to provide assistance for whatever is necessary, as we have already said directly to the family and to the lawyer he represents, by telephone, in writing, after the incident. We understand the profound pain of this irreparable loss. We respect the family’s privacy and once again strengthen our willingness to collaborate.”
Finally, Abreu concluded the statement by assuring fans attending Taylor Swift’s concert in Sao Paulo that they are working to deliver an “exciting and memorable” evening. He also informed about the new guidelines for shows at Allianz Parque, following the position of the authorities, allowing the entry of flexible plastic water bottles, in addition to disposable water glasses.
Time 4 Fun is committed to widely disseminating all show guidelines on its social networks, with the goal of providing a better experience for all attendees.
