Renascer reaches its final weeks without any news or plot that keeps viewers engaged

The remake of “Reborn“, shown by Globo, is entering its penultimate week, and what should have been a moment of climax and tension for the public ends up revealing a series of problems that were already present in the original version. The plot, which revolves around the rural saga of Joseph Innocent (played by Marcos Palmeira), ends up repeating some of the mistakes that marked the first version of the soap opera.

Slips in adaptation

In fact, one of the biggest mistakes is the introduction of the character. Cocoagrandson of José Inocêncio, who brought few significant changes to the narrative, besides being an unnecessary addition. As far as the villain is concerned Egidio (Vladimir Brichta), he stands out for keeping the conflict alive in the plot. Practically alone, Egídio carries the burden of creating the obstacles that prevent “Renascer” from being limited to family problems and romantic dilemmas. However, it is Eliana (Sophie Charlotte) who really dominates the soap opera, with memorable lines and a path of revenge that kept the audience engaged from beginning to end.

Despite the author’s attempts Bruno Luperi to insert new themes and characters, such as Lilith (Lucy Alves), the structure of the original novel, written by Benedito Ruy Barbosa, has remained virtually unchanged. “Renascer” is a well-assembled patchwork quilt, but the order in which these patches were sewn together, even when changed, does not change the predictable and often disappointing result.

As the plot draws to a close, the soap opera loses steam. It lacks emotional and narrative hooks that hold the audience’s attention, leaving a sense of frustration. It’s unfortunate, because “Renascer” has its qualities, especially in terms of visual aesthetics and performances, but the lack of innovation and the attachment to past mistakes end up overshadowing the production’s potential.
