TAM plane had to dodge UFO

In the early hours of October 1, 2007, the skies of Brazil were the scene of an event that continues to haunt those involved. Then, during a routine flight between Manaus and Belém, the crew was confronted with an unidentified flying object (UFO), which defies all conventional explanations. This is because it was detected by the TCASthe aircraft’s Onboard Collision Avoidance System, as if something were really there, lurking. So, the crew, filled with a mixture of disbelief and fear, had no choice but to continue on, without answers, but with a story they would never forget.

Another UFO on the same night

The terror of that night was not limited to a single aircraft. This is because half an hour later, a flight from Varig Logcoming from Miami to Manaus, encountered the same object. How is it possible that such an intense light and such an enigmatic object could appear before such trained eyes, defying logic and science? Confirmation from another pilot only intensified the mystery, casting an even deeper shadow over what was really happening in the skies over Brazil.

Multiple UFOs

And the encounters didn’t stop there. On February 10, 2012, another crew from TAMthis time on flight 3715 between Belém and Brasília, also had a terrifying encounter with the unknown. An “unknown traffic” appeared on the TCAS, forcing the pilot to veer sharply to the left. The radar of the Amazon Area Control Center (ACC-AZ) confirmed the presence of multiple targets. Something was there, but what? And, more importantly, why?

Two years later, in 2014, a pilot from Goalon Flight 9109, was forced to make a similar evasive maneuver in Ceará, when a white object, flying at supersonic speed and in a zigzag pattern, crossed his path. The phenomenon was sighted by two other pilots on the same day, including one from the now-defunct Avianca Brasil. With each new report, the feeling that something incomprehensible is happening above our heads becomes undeniable.

Strange lights

The mystery of UFOs over Brazil continues to unfold, with frequent reports of pilots who, in the midst of their work routine, come across the unspeakable. In 2023, the Cindactas recorded at least 30 UFO sightings by Brazilian pilots. The year 1986 marked one of the most dramatic moments in the history of Brazilian aviation, when the “Night of the UFOs” unfolded.
