The bassist’s daughter reportedly asked the company for a refund, but to no avail
Hospitalized without health insurance
SBT reportedly decided not to renew Mingau’s health plan, just over four months after he underwent skull surgery. The bassist of Ultraje a Rigor was part of the cast of the program “La Noite”, by Danilo Gentili”, when he was hit in the head in September 2023.
The information was released this Monday (9/12) by columnist Fábia Oliveira, who reportedly spoke to sources close to the artist. Mingau’s daughter, Isabella Aglio, reportedly offered to reimburse the company for the costs incurred by the service provider so as not to interrupt her father’s care, but to no avail.
In the first year of treatment, SBT offered Mingau’s family a stipend to cover treatment maintenance and health insurance. However, the contract expires on December 31st and will not be renewed by the broadcaster.
The family members have once again become concerned about the situation of the artist, who has been hospitalized since last Tuesday (12/3) after having had two epileptic seizures. He was due to be discharged this Monday (9/12), but has developed a fever and may have a respiratory infection.
Porridge case
Mingau has faced a slow recovery process since September 2023, when his car was hit by gunfire in Paraty, on the coast of Rio. A bullet passed through his skull and he had to undergo two surgeries, leaving him with the consequences.
According to investigations, the bassist was driving a dark pickup truck in front of Praça do Ovo, in the Ilha das Cobras community, in Paraty. The act aroused suspicion among drug traffickers operating in the region, who reacted by firing several shots at the vehicle.
Overall, Mingau has made progress since the attack, but the loss of financial support could be an obstacle to his recovery.
