The work was produced based on submissions from visual artists from around the world, who were invited to create themed art about Moon Music after listening to excerpts from the album.

In the end, content from 150 artists from 45 countries was used to make the definitive cut, which also debuts with “360-degree screenings” in cities like London and Manchester, England, and Seoul, South Korea.

We are so grateful to all the incredible artists who lent their genius to this film. They have created something very beautiful and we are extremely proud of it,” the Coldplay members said in a statement.

A Film for the Future has executive production of Ben Mor (the director of the music video “Hymn for the Weekend”music from Coldplay in partnership with Beyonce). In a release, he called the project “a kaleidoscopic, patchwork quilt — a 44-minute multimedia tapestry.”

In a cover story for Rolling Stone USA, Chris Martinfrom Coldplaytalked about how he and his bandmates allowed themselves the freedom to pursue any creative path.

There were times when we thought, ‘Well, we should probably try to look a little like this or talk a little about that.’ And now the thought is: ‘No’. Just follow your path, that’s a very freeing place to be.

If you want a puppet to sing a bit of a song, well, some people might not like that — my mother is one of them, for example. But the point is, this is part of my journey: I love you, and this is what we’re doing.”
