Warning: Important spoilers for episode 9 of for all humanity Season 3, titled “Coming Home”.
Only one episode was missing for all humanity Season 3 is coming to an end and “Coming Home” has ensured that the stakes are higher than fans could have anticipated thanks to Mars’ big reveal in the final moments. With Kelly Baldwin suffering from complications during her pregnancy, a new hurdle has arisen to cause trouble, set the stage for the finale, and answer a season 2 question. Executive producers Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi spoke to Gossipify about the reveal. of the armed Korean astronaut on Mars and what follows.
Mars’ team was already facing a lot of resource issues after Kelly’s collapse, and Kelly’s pregnancy further complicated matters. Their only hope of reaching Phoenix without losing the launch window was to rescue part of an unmanned North Korean probe that they could reuse. However, as Danielle Poole and Grigory Kuznetsov learned when they arrived at the site, this probe was not unmanned after all and they were facing a North Korean astronaut who certainly wasn’t hugging them, opened … and had a gun . .
Although fans might be happy that the mystery boots from the season 2 finale (with which you can find the stream an Apple TV + subscription ) has been fixed, now is not the best time for a new variable on Mars. With all the chaos on Earth, the crisis with Kelly, and the lack of time to retrieve that part, a North Korean space traveler with a gun is a twist no one could have seen coming, and executive producer Matt Wolpert shared:
Neither did we until we arrived! It’s one of those fun things in the writers room that we talked about earlier, like we don’t know at the end of season two who those boots belong to. So part of Season 3 was really about, okay, well, was it Americans? Was it the Russians? Was he a person from Helios? And then the surprising idea that there was another person on Mars that you didn’t know was there. And he points a gun at you. [laughs] It was a great ending, and seeing where it ends up in the next episode, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.
Talk about the wrong time to meet someone else on Mars, especially with what could be a language barrier! The episode ended before Danielle or Grigory could figure out that the first real person to set foot on Mars could have been a North Korean instead of an American or a Russian. It seems very safe to say that none of them have bothered to carry guns with them and no help is on the way.
It’s definitely a big cliffhanger leading up to the Season 3 finale! While executive producers haven’t revealed any details for the season finale, Ben Nedivi teased the roadblock this North Korean astronaut will find himself in when time is running out for Kelly:
This is a difficult question to answer. I guess on some level you know him right away at the end [Episode] 9 that this is not the ideal time for them, because now they have to come back soon. And being under fire, they won’t be able to back down. So I think, like we do with our finals, we like to increase the pressure as much as possible before we get there. The great thing about this year’s ending, which is bigger, longer, and more ambitious than anything we’ve done so far, I think we want to tell the story in an appropriate way that you could potentially know more. and see how they manage to get out of this situation.
The promise of a “greater” and “longer” end than anything else for all humanity has provided at least shows so far that there will be plenty of time to resolve the situation and the North Korean astronaut probably won’t show up for thirty seconds before the episode continues. It remains to be seen if they can resolve the situation in time for Kelly. Like the season two finale And Molly’s twist turned out this is a science fiction series who knows how to end a season with some key cliffhangers.
final of the third season for all humanity will be released Friday, August 12 at 12:01 pm PT on AppleTV + (opens in a new tab). The show has already been renewed for season 4 and the bosses discussed some long-term plans for what it has become one of the best shows on Apple TV + .
