Model and Loose Women star Penny Lancaster has lent her vintage wedding dress to Mell-Nicole Ratto, the girlfriend of her son Alastair Stewart, while on holiday in Spain.
The 55-year-old presenter loaned the priceless garment to Ratto, 22, almost two decades after wearing it to celebrate her marriage to rock star Sir Rod Stewart, 81.
Ratto, a Californian law student dating Penny and Rod's 20-year-old son Alastair, showed off the backless, heavily embellished minidress in photos taken in a Mediterranean courtyard and posted to Instagram on Monday.
She posted the series of photos with the tongue-in-cheek caption: "Monday sweatpant vibe. something light".
Lancaster commented on the post: "You look beautiful in my vintage dress, certainly doesn’t fit me anymore," to which Ratto replied: "My fairy godmother"
History of the wedding dress
Former model Lancaster wore the exact same distinctive dress in London in August 2007, when she was 36, to celebrate her marriage to Sir Rod Stewart.
The couple, who began dating in 1999, officially tied the knot in Italy two months before holding their wedding dinner party at the InterContinental Hotel on Park Lane in London.
The dress features a low-cut back, embellished straps, and rows of silver and white detailing. Lancaster styled the garment with strappy silver heels when she wore it 19 years ago, while Ratto paired it with white pointed stilettos for her summer evening out in Spain.
Stewart family holiday in Ibiza
Ratto's access to Lancaster's wardrobe comes as her romance with Alastair appears to be growing increasingly serious. Just a few weeks ago, she joined the Stewart family on a boat trip in Ibiza.
Rod's 34-year-old daughter Renee Stewart took to Instagram to share an array of photographs from the family holiday as the relatives united in the Mediterranean.
Alastair Stewart career move
Alastair is the elder of Lancaster's two sons with Sir Rod, with the couple also parents to 15-year-old Aiden Stewart. Born in London, Alastair initially followed his mother into modelling and landed a campaign with Italian fashion label Palm Angels as a teenager.
Last year, Alastair revealed he had left a fashion degree to pursue ambitions behind the camera. He had enrolled on a three-year undergraduate course at the JCA London Fashion Academy before deciding the path was not for him.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in May 2025, Alastair said: "I was attending that fashion college, but I've left now. I'm in a bit of a transitional period at the moment."
"I'm trying to get into the film industry, and I want to follow my passion," he added. "I've made a few short plays, I write a lot of scripts, and I write a lot of screenplays."
Background on the Stewart family
Ratto is a fourth-year pre-law undergraduate at the University of California, San Diego, where she studies political science. Her relationship with Alastair brings her into one of showbusiness's largest blended families, with Sir Rod having eight children with five women across more than 45 years.
Sir Rod welcomed his eldest daughter, Sarah Streeter, 62, with former girlfriend Susannah Boffey, before having Kimberly Stewart, 46, and Sean Stewart, 45, with his first wife Alana Stewart, 81.
The singer shares Ruby Stewart, 39, with former girlfriend Kelly Emberg, 67, while Renee Stewart, 34, and Liam Stewart, 31, are from his marriage to New Zealand supermodel Rachel Hunter, 56. His younger sons, Alastair, 20, and Aiden, 15, are with Lancaster.
The rocker's children have remained close despite their wide age gap, regularly joining their father and Lancaster on holidays and at public events. In January 2025, seven of his eight children travelled to St Barts for a family holiday to celebrate Sir Rod's 80th birthday.
