Sergey Zhukov, the 50-year-old lead singer of the Russian pop group Ruki Vverkh!, has shared a rare childhood photograph featuring his mother Liliya to celebrate her birthday.
The musician published the archival picture on his official Instagram page, which is owned by Meta. The image captures Zhukov as an infant resting comfortably in his mother's arms.
In a message accompanying the photograph, Zhukov described his mother as the most beautiful woman in the world and recounted a humorous memory from his early years. He remembered that during his childhood, when women commonly set their hair using curlers, his mother was left with a voluminous hairstyle after removing them.
Zhukov said that as a young boy he was captivated by her appearance and shared what he used to tell her. He recalled telling his mother that whenever she curled her hair, she looked like Soviet pop icon Alla Pugacheva, but whenever she left her hair unstyled, she looked like Baba Yaga, the legendary witch from Slavic folklore.
Family background and musical career
Zhukov grew up in a household with roots in both music and industrial work. His mother, Liliya, worked as a teacher at a local music school, while his father, Yevgeny, was employed as a mechanical fitter.
Music runs deep in the family, as Zhukov's younger brother, Mikhail Zhukov, is also an active performer. Mikhail regularly joins his older brother on stage as a fellow member of the band Ruki Vverkh!.
Ruki Vverkh! was established in the mid-1990s and grew into one of the most successful dance-pop groups in Russia and the broader post-Soviet region. Led by Zhukov as its frontman, the band gained widespread popularity for its catchy melodies and energetic live performances.
Earlier post celebrating marriage anniversary
The childhood reflection is not the first time Zhukov has shared family memories with his followers. In June, the singer published video footage from a registry office to mark a personal relationship anniversary with his wife, Regina Burd.
The clip featured moments recorded during the couple's formal marriage registration ceremony in 2007. Burd is a former singer who was previously a member of the popular Russian pop group Slivki before marrying Zhukov.
