Sharon Osbourne has slashed the rental price of her Los Angeles mansion by $10,000 a month to $55,000 after failing to find a tenant.
The reduction comes a year after the death of her husband, Black Sabbath rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, at the age of 76. Sharon, 73, had originally listed the seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom Hancock Park estate for rent in June at $65,000 per month through high-end real estate agency Carolwood Estates.
Prior to entering the rental market, the residence had stagnated on the sales market with a $17 million asking price. Prospective tenants attempting to rent the home must supply a security deposit of $195,000, with viewings restricted to pre-qualified clients.
Mortgage loans and financial obligations
The 11,565-square-foot property in central Los Angeles carries substantial ongoing financial obligations. Records show the estate is encumbered by three separate home loans amounting to a combined total of $18,847,000, with the last loan secured in June 2020 and no official record of any being paid off.
As a result, Sharon is responsible for $82,000 in monthly loan repayments alongside ongoing property taxes and insurance. The monthly expenditure continues despite Ozzy leaving his wife and wider family a reported $220 million fortune following his death after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
When the musician publicly announced his medical diagnosis in 2020, he addressed the condition directly. "I'm not dying from Parkinson's. I've been working with it most of my life," he said.
Property features and architectural details
The Mediterranean-style mansion, located in Hancock Park, was designed in 1929 by architect A.K. Kellogg. Sharon and Ozzy bought the property for $11,850,000 in 2015, using it as their primary base in Los Angeles for ten years before planning a permanent return to England.
According to the official real estate listing, restoration work maintained the character of the home while updating its amenities. "Careful restorations have maintained the historical architecture, while elevating the property to a level of epic glamour with all the modern luxuries of today," the listing states.
The main level of the residence includes a grand entrance foyer, a living room, a formal dining room, a wood-paneled library, and areas suitable for a home office or staff. The listing notes that "an extraordinary chef's kitchen opens to the family room, breakfast room, and outdoor dining area with pizza oven and barbeque."
The grounds feature manicured gardens, a lawn, and a swimming pool finished with hand-laid mosaic tile. A lower-level screening room features a bar and fireplace designed to evoke classic Hollywood, while an elevator connects all floors of the house.
The upper floor contains four ensuite bedrooms, including an expanded primary suite described as "a world unto itself, featuring dual baths with closets and dressing areas fit for royalty." A self-contained guest apartment is situated above the garage.
Relocation to England and home modifications
The Hancock Park estate was first put up for sale four years ago for $18 million when Sharon and Ozzy decided to return to England full-time to assist with his health management.
The couple obtained council planning approval to modify their Grade II-listed home in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire. The approved renovation included a pool house, an orangery, a garden room, a health and welfare exercise studio, a self-contained nurse's flat, and a newly constructed lake in the garden.
The building plans incorporated specialized accessibility features, including "an abundance of stopping and sitting" spaces, "discreet grab rails and aids," and "soft non-slip surfaces." Ozzy previously indicated that state taxes played a role in their move from California. "We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much," he said.
West Hollywood apartment sale
The price reduction on the Hancock Park rental follows another recent property transaction completed by Sharon in California. In November last year, she listed a 1,200-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment on the tenth floor of the Sierra Towers complex in West Hollywood for $2,400,000.
The Sierra Towers building has accommodated notable residents over time, including Elton John, Cher, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, and Joan Collins. The unit sold in April for $2,100,000, which was $300,000 below the original asking price.
The sale represented a financial loss for the family, who originally purchased the West Hollywood apartment for $2,250,000 in March 2022. The real estate changes follow Ozzy's death in 2025, where Sharon was flanked by her children, Jack and Kelly Osbourne, at his funeral in July 2025.
