The sixth season of the hit spy series Slow Horses starring Gary Oldman has launched on Apple TV with the release of its first episode.
Subscribers to the streaming platform can watch the opening installment immediately, with six episodes scheduled in total for the new season. Apple is also currently working on a seventh season of the show.
Slough House and MI5 plot background
The series is based on the Slough House spy novels written by British author Mick Herron. The narrative centers on River Cartwright, a British counterintelligence agent working for MI5 who is exiled to a disgraced department known as Slough House following a botched training exercise.
At Slough House, Cartwright comes under the supervision of the department head, Jackson Lamb, an eccentric espionage veteran. Within MI5, the UK domestic security agency, the disgraced operatives assigned to the Slough House branch are mockingly referred to as slow horses.
Ensemble cast and production
Gary Oldman plays the leading role of Jackson Lamb in the series. The Oscar-winning English actor is widely celebrated for his extensive career in film, including his prominent starring role in the thriller Leon: The Professional.
The television adaptation features a prominent supporting cast including Scottish actor Jack Lowden, who featured in the war film Dunkirk, and acclaimed actress Kristin Scott Thomas, known for her performance in the drama The English Patient.
Actor Dustin Demri-Burns, who previously appeared in the television series Urban Myths, also forms part of the series cast along with several other performers.
