life for real : a good comic story
Danny Bon he is often inspired by his own reality for writing his screenplays, e life for real is no exception. His latest film is at the crossroads of two personal memories. First, the meeting at Club Med with a restaurateur whose parents met in one of the tourist villages. Then, the embarrassing surprise that his mother gave him during the filming of The Ch’tite family inviting his ex-girlfriend from elementary school. This mixture, added to the tender gaze of the director about childhood emotions that are anchored throughout life, he gives a rather successful comedy.

Dany Boon, more and more like a Bourvil – especially when he sings the songs he composed -, as often, he offers himself the role of the nice naive. Thus, 50-year-old Nice Organizer Tridan Lagache never left the Club Med in Mexico where he was conceived. life for real Shows the moving portrait of a man who has only known this place, out of time and out of this world. An exhilarating life to smile and bring happiness to vacationers, with the difficulty of living every time the departure of his new friends as an abandonment.
He never forgot his lover Violette and their promise to always be together. A memory suspended in his memory, forever linked to the death of his father Didier (Maxime Gasteuil), the reasons why the director subtly brings.
The opposition of Dany Boon and Kad Merad
If Dany Boon masters her story and lends credibility to her character, the Parisian continuation of his journey in search of Violette is stormy to say the least. Baffled by the departure of her son, her mother Françoise (Aurore Clément) tells her that her father owned an apartment in Paris. Apartment that Tridan discovers occupied by Louis, his half-brother that she did not know existed.
We can imagine that Dany Boon was inspired by the character of Kad Merad in Black Baron writing the latter a role as unsavory as Louis’, both it amusingly pits the two brothers against each other throughout. On their character: Tridan is kind and optimistic, Louis is a crude profiteer. Their love life: Tridan is romantic, Louis is divorced and uses a dating platform. As well as in their social life: Tridan makes friends everywhere when Louis is hated as his son. Or their relationship with money: Tridan has none and Louis is looking for the minimum euro.
The reunion of the duo Welcome to the Ch’tis
Above all, Tridan is happy to find a half-brother while Louis sees in it the way to definitively recover the apartment. This is when it comes into play Charlotte Gausbourg, aka Roxane, one of Louis’ “matches”. This then asks for the conquest of her to pretend to be Violette in comic scenes of good quality and made up of misunderstandings. Scenes that remind (a little too much) give me your handin which the actress has already played the role of a big liar.

Dany Boon, for its part, uses the same recipe as the Béotian’s Welcome to the Ch’ti and this time he uses his character’s naive look to offering a fairly virulent charge of Parisian life. Traffic jams, the subway, thieves, the bad mood of Parisians and pigeons (a nice find), you name it. And like any self-respecting comedy, the embittered attitude will obviously be modified by that of the funny guy, who won’t be fooled anymore.
Why life for real reveals a beautiful story of emancipation from a man of tender childlike candor, towards his parents but above all his childhood dreams. Despite a certain heaviness in the scenario, the on-screen reunion of Dany Boon and Kad Merad proves to be a real pleasure.
