The track launched on digital streaming platforms at midnight, marking a return to the emotional ballad style that defined Sanz's early music during the 1990s. The release comes as the Madrid-born musician takes a temporary break from live performances.

Tribute to Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer

The composition is a direct tribute to 19th-century Spanish Romantic poet Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, whose writing on love and nostalgia has long influenced Sanz's lyricism. In the final moments of the music video, a written quote highlights Bécquer's famous statement that while there may one day be no poets, poetry itself will always remain.

In a message posted on Instagram at midnight to mark the release, Sanz wrote that while some songs are born from a melody, others originate from deep admiration. He explained that Yo era poesía belongs to the latter group as a personal homage to Bécquer, calling the poet's perspective a source of pure inspiration throughout his career.

Sanz also expressed gratitude to Muñoz for putting his heart into the song. He added that he hoped listeners would feel the track deeply and discover something personal within its message.

Music Video Visuals and Style

The accompanying music video utilizes detailed visual elements, dynamic camera angles, and rapid shot transitions. The production finishes with special visual effects showing each artist merging with their respective partners, contrasting technical production with the simplicity of romantic affection.

The single arrives amid an ongoing debate within pop music, recently raised by Spanish singer David Bisbal, over whether traditional romantic ballads still have a place in modern concert setlists. Sanz's release offers a renewed case for the genre's presence on stage.

Tour Break and Upcoming Concerts

Sanz is currently taking a rest from his concert schedule to recharge and spend time with his family. Prior to the break, he launched his ¿Y ahora qué? Tour across Latin America and the United States before returning to Europe.

The tour continued with approximately ten stadium dates in Spain, including a concert at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid that featured both classic hits and recent tracks. Sanz is scheduled to fly back across the Atlantic in October for another set of international tour dates.
