Many of us are convinced that the quality of a home manicure will never compare to that of a salon. The master is unlikely to do the job badly and, even more so, not damage the nails. It was with such thoughts that our heroine went to the usual removal of gel polish with an additional coating and returned home in tears. A few days later, she had to be operated on. What happened, how to avoid other people’s mistakes and save your health in a nail salon? We asked a leading manicure specialist to answer these questions.
“My story will probably seem trivial to someone, but I experienced enormous stress – such that it is difficult to convey it in words. Due to lack of time with my usual manicure, I had to go to a specialist free. I planned to remove the gel polish, and then apply the coating. They removed the polish with a cutter. For a long time and very carefully – so much so that it even burned. At first it was bearable, but then I still couldn’t bear it and I told the master that I was unpleasant, and I received the answer: be patient, you have to take everything out until the end, otherwise it will be ugly. On the ring finger, after working with a cutter, the skin of the cuticle area burst and blood flowed out. This did not really surprise the master, she treated my finger with some kind of solution after finished doing the little finger. But the blood didn’t stop. In general, she finished me trying to examine the nail problems with an orange stick, which even more disturbed the wound on the cuticle. As a result, I ended up without a manicure, but that’s not so bad. On the third day, the base of the nail swelled, the skin turned red, and pus appeared. I will not give details, but the surgeon, to whom I, scared, ran after unnecessary treatment with ointments, performed the operation. Now I have a scar on my finger and a terrible manicure phobia.
We asked an experienced manicure and pedicure specialist to comment on the case of our heroine.
Of course, the master must be professional in order to carefully treat the skin around the nails without consequences. The cuticle is the most vulnerable part of the finger! This fold of skin around the proximal end of the nail plate, which is a tissue extension of the matrix, performs an important protective function. Most likely, the girl’s cuticle was too thin and sensitive, and the master processed the knife too hard and too deeply. It was necessary to immediately treat the wound with a special medical antiseptic and give recommendations to prevent inflammation. Even if the instruments have been treated, this does not guarantee that there will be no inflammation. The client goes with this wound to the outside world, where a lot of bacteria live, which can easily get inside and cause an infection to appear.
