How to grow your hair fast: the secret of Greek women, perfect for summer

Have you ever wondered why the Greek hairstyle is always done with long hair?

It’s simple – since ancient times, the inhabitants of Greece could boast of thick and luxurious curls. To cultivate them, Greek women used rosemary water, and the latest scientific research confirms that it really works.

Rosemary and science

In 2015, a randomized comparative study was conducted, which received the telling name “rosemary oil vs minoxidil in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia”. Six months of use has shown rosemary oil to be as effective against hair loss as minoxidil, a popular ingredient in many cosmetics to stimulate hair growth.

In addition, it turned out that minoxidil causes a high level of discomfort – its use can be accompanied by itching, skin irritation and increased sensitivity, but not rosemary. That’s why Anthony Yoon, MD, calls the plant “a smart option for people who struggle with thinning hair and prefer to deal with it with natural remedies.”

rosemary and water

Oil hair masks aren’t for everyone, but they do have a versatile alternative – rosemary water. Its preparation is very simple: boil 300 ml of water, remove it from the heat and add two teaspoons of crushed rosemary leaves. Let the liquid cool, strain it and pour it into a vaporizer. Homemade rosemary water has a shelf life of one week and should be stored in the refrigerator.

Rosemary water can be used in three ways. In the summer, trichologist Kerry Yates recommends misting it on your scalp after sun exposure to help cool you down. To stimulate hair growth, mist the scalp every night. “You don’t need to over-wet your hair — just make sure all areas are covered in moisture,” says Kerry.

If you don’t want to constantly run to the refrigerator for a spray bottle, use the third method – after washing your hair, rinse it with rosemary water and let it dry: since there is no oil in the product, it will not make the strands greasy.
