Television personality Kelly Osbourne has launched a furious online response against Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider after he questioned the musical legacy of her late father, heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne.
The 41-year-old star hit back on her Instagram stories while relaxing poolside in a leopard print swimsuit, large sun hat, and statement sunglasses on Friday, taking aim at the American singer following comments he made on social media earlier in the week.
Snider, 71, had suggested on social platform X that Ozzy Osbourne relied on other musicians, including former bassist Bob Daisley and late Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister, to write his songs. The Twisted Sister musician also added cryptically that Ozzy's wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, "doesn't like to share."
Kelly Osbourne Defense of Ozzy Legacy
Enraged by the allegations, Kelly Osbourne posted a stern defense of her father's career achievements. "My father's legacy as a musician, songwriter, singer and bandleader speaks for itself," she wrote on Instagram.
She continued: "His friends, those who worked with him, those who love him, and millions of fans around the world that still continue to buy his records know exactly what he meant what he contributed and what he leaves behind. His legacy will live on eternally."
The television personality went on to target Snider's own career record, pointing out that his last major hit arrived in 1984, the year she was born. She compared Snider's "brief period of mainstream success more than 40 years ago" with her father's career that "spanned nearly six decades and helped define heavy metal."
"There's something spectacularly classless about Dee Snider trying to diminish my father Ozzy Osbourne and his extraordinary abilities and achievements when he is no longer here to challenge his allegations," Kelly wrote, before branding the rocker "irrelevant."
Dee Snider Backtracking and Clarification
"My father doesn't need Dee Snider's approval to establish his place in music history. And trying to make my father smaller won't make Dee Snider bigger," Kelly added. "It only reminds everyone of the enormous difference between their legacies and further proves how irrelevant Snider is to the music industry and society as a whole. However, I would like to thank you Dee Snider for allowing the world to see how truly desperate he really is!"
Following the backlash online, Snider attempted to clarify his position in a subsequent post on X. "To be clear, I HAVE NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR OZZY. He was always lovely to me. Black Sabbath changed my life! As a songwriter I can be a little touchy about credit and royalties," Snider wrote.
Snider fronted Twisted Sister through their peak in the 1980s, achieving global fame with heavy metal anthems such as "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock". He stepped down from performing in 2026 due to degenerative arthritis and heart strain.
Black Sabbath Legacy and Final Concert
Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, aged 76, weeks after performing his final concert at the Back to the Beginning show at Villa Park stadium in his home city of Birmingham.
The singer sold more than 100 million records throughout a career synonymous with Black Sabbath, the heavy metal band he formed in Birmingham in 1969. With hits including "Iron Man", "War Pigs", and "Paranoid", Black Sabbath's occult themes proved both popular and controversial, with a future pope even condemning Osbourne for his "subliminal satanic influence."
Despite the heated exchange, Kelly appeared relaxed in other social media photos, enjoying a coffee in the sunshine with a friend. Daily Mail has contacted Dee Snider's representatives for comment.
