Former Bachelor winner Laura Byrne has revealed there is no awkwardness between her and Georgia Love after the pair crossed paths on the Logies red carpet.
The unexpected encounter occurred at The Star in Sydney on Sunday night during the 66th TV Week Logie Awards, marking a rare public meeting between the two reality television personalities.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail, Laura, 40, laughed off suggestions that crossing paths with Georgia was uncomfortable, a decade after Georgia famously rejected Laura's now-husband Matty "J" Johnson on television.
"No, not at all. Why?" Laura said when asked if the run-in felt awkward. "I mean, it's been ten years since my season of The Bachelor, and we've been married for how many years? And we have three children."

Laura added that she viewed the encounter lightheartedly: "Of course it's not weird. I was just like, 'It's great… there's a glitch in the vortex. No.' I was like, 'Oh my gosh. What?' It's so nice."
Red Carpet Reunion and Bachelor History
The cordial meeting comes ten years after Georgia rejected Matty J during the 2016 season finale of The Bachelorette in Singapore, choosing Lee Elliott as her leading man and leaving the emotional runner-up in tears.
Matty J returned to the television franchise the following year as Australia's Bachelor for season five in 2017, where he met jewellery designer Laura Byrne.
The couple announced their engagement in April 2019 and welcomed their first daughter, Marlie-Mae, two months later in June 2019. Their second daughter, Lola, was born in February 2021, before the couple married on the New South Wales South Coast in November 2022. They welcomed their third daughter, Poppy Pearl, in 2025.

Despite the historical heartbreak that launched their respective public journeys, Laura made clear at the Logie Awards that any reality television rivalry remains firmly in the past.
Past Podcast Clash Over Social Media Post
The friendly interaction on Sunday stood in contrast to past tension between the women. In 2019, Laura launched a public critique of Georgia following comments Georgia made online about Bachelor Matt Agnew.

Georgia, a former television reporter, posted an expletive-laden tweet after Matt Agnew eliminated fan favourite contestant Elly Miles, writing: "F*** YOU MATT. Don't @ me."
Addressing online bullying on her Life Uncut podcast alongside co-host Brittany Hockley, Laura stated that Georgia's post had "really ground my gears" and set a bad example.

"My issue with it didn't so much come from, 'She's offering criticism,'" Laura said on the podcast at the time. "I mean, it's totally okay to not be an Abbie [Chatfield] fan and to be upset that your favourite character is going home. However, language is really, really important."
Laura noted that Georgia "chose to use obscenities and basically verbally abused Matt for his choices" rather than offering constructive commentary, arguing the tweet set a "really, really low bar" for online discourse that could encourage viewers to target the astrophysicist.

Laura also accused Georgia of hypocrisy, highlighting the severe backlash Georgia experienced after eliminating popular firefighter Cameron Cranley before hometown week on her own season in 2016. "Everybody in Australia freaking loves Cam. He is wonderful," Laura said, noting Georgia had copped flak for following her heart.
"So, as much as I do question Matt's decisions in keeping Abbie on the show, I still think it's a bit of a situation where it's 'pot calling kettle,'" Laura added. "As a journalist and someone who really understands the power of language, I expected more than that."

That podcast discussion marked Laura's first public criticism of Georgia, following earlier rumours that the pair were "anything but friendly" and had experienced a "stand-off" at the Melbourne Cup. Georgia Love has been approached for comment regarding the Logies run-in.
