Streaming services including Movistar Plus+, Netflix, Prime Video and SkyShowtime are launching dozens of new movie releases from August 17 to August 23, 2026.

The weekly schedule features titles across all major digital platforms as the month of August passes its midpoint.

Movistar Plus+ kicks off the week with three simultaneous premieres, led by the documentary thriller Infiltrada en Siria. The production combines investigative reporting, psychological suspense and real testimony to examine dark episodes of the Syrian war.

The Spanish subscription service Movistar Plus+, operated by telecommunications provider Telefonica, also features Return to Silent Hill as its highlighted premiere of the week on August 23. In the new film adaptation of Konami's iconic psychological horror video game franchise, protagonist James Sunderland returns to the mysterious town of Silent Hill to search for his lost love, Mary Crane.

Documentary highlights and featured premieres

In addition to Infiltrada en Siria, Movistar Plus+ debuts two other documentary features on August 17. Franco Battiato: Il lungo viaggio explores the life and career of the late Italian singer, songwriter and composer Franco Battiato. Meanwhile, El Camp Nou: Bienvenidos al estadio offers a look inside the famous home stadium of Spanish football club FC Barcelona.

On August 18, Movistar Plus+ releases El año nuevo que nunca llegó, followed by La mujer de la fila on August 19 and the documentary Armas nucleares: planeta y sangre on August 22.

SkyShowtime brings the drama Anémona to streaming on August 19. The film explores intricate relationships between parents, children and siblings, examining the complex dynamics of family bonds. SkyShowtime, a joint venture streaming service operating across European markets, will also launch Avatar Aang: El último maestro del aire and Splitsville: Una comedia poco romántica on August 22.

Major global platforms are rolling out multiple additions throughout the week. On Netflix, the investigative documentary Caída libre: toda la verdad sobre Boeing debuts on August 19, focusing on American aerospace manufacturer Boeing. Netflix will also release the comedy sequel La familia Benetón +2 on August 21.

Amazon Prime Video launches the drama La voluntad de Dios on August 19. On August 20, Prime Video premieres Novak Djokovic: El lobo en el invierno, a sports documentary focused on the record-breaking Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. Prime Video follows on August 21 with four releases: Shelter: El protector, Back to the 90s, Con el agua al cuello and Una novia para mi boda.

Warner Bros. Discovery's platform HBO Max releases La hermanastra fea on August 18, followed by Uno de los nuestros and Misión hostil on August 20. Disney+ debuts Disney Worldbuilders and León on August 20. Spanish independent streaming service Filmin presents Resurrection and Islas on August 21.
