New movies coming to Netflix this week
For this first Monday of 2025, let’s take a quick overview of the new films arriving on Netflix this week from January 6th to 12th. Among the big news of the year, the action film Ad Vitam worn by Guillaume Canet arrives on January 10th.
The latter, who had to do a lot of physical preparation for this role, plays a man named Franck Lazareff who, after escaping to attempted murdermust find his wife Leo kidnapped by a mysterious group of armed men. He is involved in his past and immersed in an affair of state that is beyond his control.
The first trailer revealed last month, foreshadowed a tense and effective action film, and above all a new global success for a French Netflix film:
Another film expected this week, which should soon enter the Top 10 most watched in France: The devotion of the exorcistthe last work of horror sagastarted by William Friedkin in 1973.
Released in theaters in October 2023, this new horror film is by David Gordon Green, who tried to reproduce what he did in 2018 by relaunching the Halloween saga. Unfortunately, it failed to replicate the same success and the film was a critical and commercial failure.
The story takes place 50 years after the events of the original film, where two young girls mysteriously disappear and return possessed. Their family turns to Chris MacNeil, played by Ellen Burstyn, Reagan’s mother, for help in dealing with these demonic forces.

This week’s new series on Netflix
Only two new series will be reported on Netflix this week, primarily the complete series Energywhich will be added on January 8th. This drama series follows James St. Patrick, nicknamed “Ghost”, a New York nightclub owner and drug lord. Torn between his life of crime and his desire for legitimacy, he must juggle family, business and environmental dangers.
But the big news this week is the fresco At the dawn of America signed Peter Berg, which will arrive on January 9th. This historical series traces the beginnings of the construction of the United States through the story of a mother and her son who face the hostile expanses of the Far West.
