Why you can’t sleep naked in the summer – even if you’re very hot

Hot summer nights are a common cause of insomnia and fatigue after waking up. Many people believe that sleep can be improved if you change the blanket to a light sheet and forgo pajamas and underwear in general. However, in reality, this does not save the situation: and here is why.

It is generally accepted that you should sleep without clothes or with a minimum of underwear, because nothing will interfere with falling asleep. In addition, naked sleep is promoted as a way to get rid of morning puffiness from the body – after all, elastic bands on clothes can disrupt blood circulation.

In the cold season, it is difficult to refuse cozy pajamas, especially during the period when the heating supply has not yet been regulated. But in the heat of summer, even those who are usually embarrassed to do so want to get rid of all their clothes!

Surprisingly, experts advise to abandon pajamas and underwear in the winter, and in the summer, on the contrary, to go to bed only dressed. Indeed, the fabrics help to establish the body’s thermoregulation – and still contribute to a comfortable sleep, even when it is +30 outside the window.

During the summer, we sweat especially when we sleep. If you sleep without clothes, the sweat will just seep into the bedding and require more frequent washing. Meanwhile, the lightweight pajama fabric absorbs sweat. And at the same time helps the body cool down to the optimum temperature.

It is important to clarify that for sleeping you should choose clothes made of thin, breathable fabrics that can let moisture and air through. At the same time, pajamas should have a free style – so that no random movement in a dream will cause your sudden awakening.
