Colombian singer Shakira has announced a new collaboration with fellow Colombian artist Maluma, a track titled "Agua," set for release just before she opens her Madrid residency. She revealed the news on social media on Wednesday afternoon.
The song will come out as part of the music industry's regular Friday release schedule, timed to land in time for Shakira's first Madrid date at the Estadio Shakira. It is not yet known whether the new single will be added to her live setlist, though she has previously said she plans to perform some songs from her catalogue that she has not yet sung during the tour, which has now been running for a year and a half.
A collaboration eight years in the making
"Agua" will be the fourth song Shakira and Maluma have released together. The pair first worked together on "Chantaje" in 2016, a sensual track that made waves across the Latin music scene and revealed the chemistry between the two artists in the studio.
They followed it with "Trap" in 2018, taken from Shakira's album "El Dorado," and later released the standalone single "Clandestino," which was not tied to any studio album. "Agua" marks their first joint release in eight years, and the announcement image itself hints at the closeness and sensitivity between the two artists, without crossing into anything beyond friendship.

The Madrid residency and 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' tour
Shakira kicked off her "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour" in Rio de Janeiro on 11 February 2025. More than a year and a half later, the tour has included over 150 dates and multiple sold-out shows.
For its finale, Shakira has built a festival-style event in Madrid, where she will headline each night at a venue named the Estadio Shakira, located within a larger site called Parque Macondo in the Madrid district of Villaverde. Parque Macondo pays tribute to Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez, for whom Shakira has long expressed admiration.
The site will also include a children's play area, which Shakira designed with input from her two sons, Milan and Sasha, so that those attending for the atmosphere rather than the music have something to enjoy too.
Madrid residency dates
Shakira's Madrid residency is scheduled across 12 nights: 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 and 27 September, and 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11 October.
